Serving as the Communications and Outreach VISTA, Liam Schwartz (he/him) supports Hawaii Green Growth’s work as a UN Local2030 Hub through communications, partner and community engagement, and outreach on local and global sustainability goals. Liam builds long-term capacity for partner communications, community engagement and outreach, and new organizational systems to amplify impact, and develop legacy resources to facilitate ongoing action on the Aloha+ Challenge. Liam graduated from Hamline University with a B.A. in Sociology and Environmental Studies. His senior thesis research project investigated the most effective emotions to evoke in climate change communication so diverse groups of people are motivated to take action. He has previously served on two conservation corps doing trail maintenance/construction and invasive species removal/treatment. Before his current role at HGG, he worked as a field canvasser organizing and fundraising for Clean Water Action Minnesota, an environmental lobbying organization. Liam is incredibly passionate about environmental justice and learning new things, all intending to equitably address climate change. In his free time, Liam enjoys playing and watching soccer, hiking, and going to live music.
