Rainwater Assessment Assistant, Follow the Drop Initiative
Saige serves as the Rainwater Assessment Assistant for the Follow the Drop initiative, collaborating with communities in the Ala Wai Watershed to promote sustainability and resilience. A recent graduate of Hawaii Pacific University, Saige earned her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. During her senior year, she conducted independent research on the relationship between presence of feral cat colonies and the parasitic protozoan Toxoplasma gondii, which causes Toxoplasmosis, in the coastal ecosystems around Oahu. This parasite poses a significant threat to the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal, along with other endangered species. Born and raised in Hawaii and a Kanaka ‘Ōiwi (Native Hawaiian), Saige is passionate about advancing sustainability initiatives in Hawaii, particularly in water conservation and coastal protection, to ensure a more sustainable future for the islands and their communities.
